In the summer of 1865, a rag-tag band of soldiers just home from the Civil War gathered on the banks of the Manatawny Creek. Over the course of the next four years, they would build a record of epic engineering and heroic human drama: the Colebrookdale Railroad. In September of this year, one hundred and fifty years after their struggle was complete, we, their decedents and the beneficiaries of their toil, gather to commemorate them and celebrate the achievement of the Colebrookdale’s rebirth.
11AM: Golden Spike Limited: Ride our special commemorative train ride to Pottstown and arrive back to Boyertown in time to enjoy our community celebration, with steam calliope, the Boyertown Alumni Band, crafts, food, and games, as well as the Golden Spike Driving Ceremony at 2:30. Please park at our lot off Second Street and ride our 1930 trolley to the train station. Tickets available at ColebrookdaleRailroad.com.
