Membership Policy

The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce (TCACC or the Chamber) is a growing membership organization serving businesses Members in southeastern Berks, western Montgomery, and northern Chester Counties. The information included below reflects the Chamber’s Membership policies, which are subject to change subsequent hereto, but which reflect our current membership practices.

Chamber Membership Terms:

The Chamber is a Pennsylvania nonprofit corporation that is qualified under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. Active membership in TCACC shall be open to any person, association, partnership, corporation, limited liability company or other entity having an interest in the mission and purposes of the Chamber (see below). A prospective new Member shall meet those requirements, including Board approval and the payment of dues, for admission to Chamber membership; dues amounts are established by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Admission of Members:

Prospective members are required to pay Chamber membership dues in full at the time of application. Membership dues cover a membership year beginning at the time the Member is approved by Board vote and ending after twelve months thereafter. Membership is renewable on the first day of the Members’ anniversary month each year.

Dues, which are subject to change in price and formula, are payable in advance and are continuous until canceled in writing in advance of the due date. Chamber membership dues are non-refundable except as otherwise provided herein.

Chamber membership dues may be deductible for Federal Income tax purposes as an ordinary and necessary business expense (not as a charitable contribution). However, Members should consult their own tax advisors for specific tax information and advice.

Applications for Chamber membership are reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors. Pending approval by the Board of Directors, applicants who are not yet approved may participate within the organization pending admission to membership. Any dues payments made by applicants during application review shall be reimbursed promptly by the Chamber following the declining of an application.

Termination of Membership:

The Board of Directors of TCACC reserves the right to reject an application for membership, or to cancel established membership, in accordance with the organization’s Bylaws.

Non-payment of Dues:

Chamber Members who do not pay membership dues within 100 days of the due date may be subject to having their membership canceled in accordance with the Chamber’s Bylaws. In any such case, the Chamber will notify the member of the cancellation and no further action shall be required of the Chamber.

TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce purpose (as stated in the Bylaws):

TCACC is organized to achieve the objectives of: 1) Preserving the competitive enterprise system of business by: creating a better understanding and appreciation of the importance of business people and a concern for their problems, educating the business community and representing them on municipal, county, state, and national legislative and political affairs, preventing or addressing controversies which are detrimental to expansion and growth of business and the community if they arise, and creating a greater appreciation of the value of a more liberal investment of substance and self on behalf of the interest of competitive business; and 2) Promoting business and community growth and development by: promoting economic programs designed to strengthen and expand the income potential of all business within the trade area; promoting programs of a civic, social and cultural nature which are designed to increase the functional and aesthetic values of the community; and discovering and correcting abuses which prevent the promotion of business expansion and community growth.
