SUMMARY:Graphic Novelist Aaron Birk to Discuss ''The Pollinator's Corridor'' at Ursinus College
DESCRIPTION:Philadelphia-based artist Aaron Birk will discuss the first volume of his self-published graphic novel\, ''The Pollinator's Corridor\,'' on Wednesday\, January 25\, at 7 p.m. in the Musser Auditorium\, located in Pfahler Hall. The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary. \n\nThe story\, which is set in the Bronx during the late 1970s at the close of an arson epidemic that left the area desolate\, focuses on three friends who try to save the world from ecological destruction. The trio sets out to connect city parks and forest fragments by convincing the bees and butterflies to cross the Bronx and help pollinate corridors of flowering plants. Birk\, who based the story on his own experiences directing ecological restoration projects in the Bronx and working as a head gardener in New York City\, was a 2011 recipient of a Pennsylvania Partner in the Arts Project Stream Grant. More information can be found on his web site\, www.aaronbirk.com.
