48th Annual Duryea Day Antique & Classic Car & Truck Show and Flea Market
The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles is pleased to hold the 48th Annual Duryea Day Antique & Classic Car & Truck Show and Flea Market on Saturday, August 31 at Boyertown Community Park from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission to the event is an affordable $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for those under 6 years of age. National Penn Investors Trust Company is proud to be this year’s Duryea Day sponsor.
Hundreds of antique and classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles will be on display at beautiful Boyertown Community Park. All eras will be represented, from the brass to the tailfins to the muscle cars. For those who like something a bit edgier, there will be plenty of hot rods and motorcycles roaring through the park. Commercial and light duty trucks will also be on display. Delivery trucks, fire trucks, big rigs, and more will be on hand for spectators to enjoy.
Duryea Day also features a large flea market full of everything from car parts and automobile memorabilia to homemade crafts. There will also be a Car Corral with classic cars for sale.
Activities during the day include the attention-getting Car Games. Watch drivers try to balance their antique cars on a giant teeterboard. The popular Trackless Train Ride will also be there for the children. Admission to the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles is included in your park admission. A trolley will be shuttling visitors all day between the park and the Museum. Catch the Museum’s special exhibit, “On Merit Alone: The Story of Acme” on its last day. Also in the Museum’s gallery are some new artifacts on display, including three Pottstown-built bicycles and a 1918 Biddle convertible. Don’t forget that the ever-popular Reading Diner is on display at the Museum, and this year is joined by a1921 Sunoco gas station, which is in its final stages of restoration.
Duryea Day would not be complete without good music and good food. Ken Meyle’s Special Delivery will be at one pavilion playing some bluegrass and contemporary music. The Joe Soltysik Band will be at another pavilion performing hits from the 50s and 60s. As for food, Moyers Catering will be the day’s main food vendor, with breakfast and ice cream provided by the Lion’s Club and the Relay for Life Jay Walkers team.
Duryea Day also includes chances to win. 50/50 raffle tickets are available for purchase all day, with the winner announced at 3:00 pm. Trophies will be awarded to Museum’ Choice Antique Pre War Car, Post War Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Modified, and Sports Car. See if your favorites win! And everyone can be a winner by saving a life and giving blood at the Miller-Keystone Blood Center.
Duryea Day is organized and run by the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles and the Pottstown Region Antique Automobile Club of America. Proceeds benefit both organizations.
