HealthSpark Foundation is launching its Safety Net Resiliency Initiative, a 10-year effort to improve the ability of Montgomery County’s health and human service safety net system to weather uncertainty and meet the needs of residents.
The foundation is accepting applications through Jan. 22nd from organizations working within the county’s safety net system to participate in one or more Design Teams. These Teams will meet monthly from March through August to develop projects or areas of suggested research to improve the safety net system. HealthSpark anticipates funding several of the projects developed by the Design Teams as the first phase of implementation in its 10-year effort.
Another key element of the initiative is the Community of Practice, which entails three community learning and engagement events between March and September. The Community of Practice events are open to Design Team participants and other interested health and human service providers, philanthropic and governmental leaders and consumers. The purpose of the Community of Practice is to create spaces for more people to provide input into potential projects and solutions. Meghan McVety, principal and co-founder of Capacity for Change, will facilitate all Design Team and Community of Practice meetings.
PURPOSE
The inaugural Community of Practice meeting is the occasion formally marking the launch of the Safety Net Resiliency Initiative. A broad base of community stakeholders, including Design Team participants, will explore what it means to build a resilient safety net system and start gathering input to help inform and guide the work of each Design Team.
Participants can expect an interactive idea-sharing session to lend your ideas, identify priorities and offer suggestions for each Design Team to consider.
