Grand Opening of A Rosie Outlook Exhibit
We all know Rosie: the red-bandana-wearing, tough-as-nails poster child for recruiting women during the second World War. Rosie the Riveter was the star of a campaign aimed at recruiting female workers for defense industries during World War II. She became perhaps the most iconic image of working women and most successful recruitment tool in American History. American women entered the workforce in extraordinary numbers during the War, as widespread male enlistment left gaping holes in the industrial labor force. Between 1940 and 1945, the female percentage of the U.S. workforce increased from 27 percent to nearly 37 percent.
The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles presents, “A Rosie Outlook: WWII & the Girls with a Star-Spangled Heart”. This exhibit will feature Boyertown built WWII vehicles as well as a Rosie the Riveter Rose Garden, which will be planted in front of our Hafer Building. The exhibit, on display in our lobby, will feature information on Pennsylvania/local involvement in the war, Army-Navy awards, vehicle development and production and MUCH more! Join us on May 22nd, 2021 for the opening of this exhibit/garden! This opening is INCLUDED WITH REGULAR ADMISSION.
