New business filing requirement & upcoming virtual info session on September 25 @2pm
Businesses are required to file basic information by January 1, 2025, as part of new law enforcement efforts to fight money laundering. The bipartisan Corporate Transparency Act requires businesses to report their ownership to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), which is part of the Treasury Department.
Filing is quick, secure, and free. Most companies should be able to report without the help of an accountant or lawyer. For many Pennsylvanians, filing may take less than 20 minutes. Unless a company needs to update or correct information, it is a one-time filing requirement.
Companies can file at https://boiefiling.fincen.gov/ or visit https://www.fincen.gov/boi for more information. FinCEN will be holding a virtual info session on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 2 pm ET at www.youtube.com/@fincentreasury.
