Pottstown Open Doors
Event will kick off with a welcoming ceremony at the Smith Family Plaza in front of borough hall and ceremonies dedicated to the victims and first responders of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Throughout the day, music will be performed at the plaza and a cross-fit demonstration by Pottstown Karate, which will also give karate, boxing and Aikido demonstrations afterward at its shop on North Hanover Street between King and High Streets.
Also new this year will be a Miller-Keystone Blood Donation Van both downtown and at the high school.
Also back will be the popular skateboard demonstrations by Bentley's at High and Penn Streets and dancing demonstrations by Swing Kat/Ballroom on High.
The Gallery School will have student and faculty art on display as well and a bus from Pottstown Area Rapid Transit will once again shuttle visitors from stops downtown and throughout the borough.
Those will include guided tours of The Hill School, visits with artist Jeffrey Margraf working on the new mural at the park at Washington and Chestnut Streets and an open house at 424 Walnut St., where Genesis Housing has refurbished yet another dilapidated house into a home.
In the afternoon, the school district will once again be cooking up free food at the high school.
Also on site will be emergency vehicles from the various emergency services in town, along with the moon bounce and dunk tank.
