Pottstown Y 10th Annual Spring Forward 5K/1 Mile Walk & Healthy Family Event

Freedom Valley YMCA at Pottstown’s 10th Annual Spring Forward 5k Run or 1 mile Walk is Saturday, April 9th, 2011, 724 North Adams Street. Race day registration is 7:30 – 8:30 AM with the Run scheduled to start at 9:00 AM, and the Walk at 9:15 AM, rain or shine. For the past 10 years, this popular community event and Y Fund Raiser brings together runners and walkers of all levels of athletic abilities, as well as, volunteers, area businesses and organizations.

Proceeds fund the Y Cares Financial Assistance Program helping to provide Y programs committed to meeting the needs of our community. The Run/Walk, a flat course, runs through the streets of the north end of town, starting and finishing at the Pottstown Y.

The first 250 registered participants receive event tee shirts. Door prizes raffles and light refreshments, many generously donated from area businesses, are included. Awards presented to the top 3 male and female overall winners, top 3 males and females in designated age groups from 9 and under through 65+, as well as team awards.

Make it a fun family day by first participating in either the 5K or 1 Mile walk and then join in our Y Healthy Family Event. Fun planned activities include a moonbounce, Rainbow the Clown, vendors, Pottstown Police children finger printing, Family Dodgeball, Family Kickball, Family Zumba, Y Summer Camp and Y Youth League information, and raffles. A free community swim will also be offered from 11 AM – 1 PM
