ROYERSFORD — If a registered sex offender moved into your neighborhood, would you know what to do or how to protect your children? These and many other complicated questions will be answered by trained professionals and law enforcement experts, who will give a presentation on “Protecting Your Children From Sex Offenders” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 in the Spring-Ford Ninth-Grade Center auditorium, located at 400 S. Lewis Road in Royersford.
For the past decade, sex offenders have received unprecedented scrutiny and attention by the media, legislators and court systems. The aftermath of acts by sex offenders causes high levels of emotional and physical harm to victims and creates turmoil in local communities. In cooperation with the Montgomery County Sexual Assault Task Force and the Limerick Township, Royersford and Upper Providence Township Police departments, the Spring-Ford Area School District is hosting this important event that will discuss sex offenders in Montgomery County, and what the community can do to reduce and prevent victimization.
Law enforcement officials will discuss evidence-based practices they utilize to manage this population and how those tools help make the community a safer place to live and work.
“This is an important event that all Spring-Ford parents and community members should consider attending, so they can learn from the experts and law enforcement the essential lessons of how to make their neighborhoods safer and safeguard their children from sex offenders,” Spring-Ford Area School District Assistant Superintendent Allyn Roche said.
The event is free and open to the entire Spring-Ford community. Due to the subject matter, it is recommended that no one under the age of 18 attend the presentation.
Babysitting is available for children grades in kindergarten through sixth-grade. If you plan to utilize the service, you are required to pre-register by Nov. 5 with Carol Ganister by calling 610-705-6202 or emailing cgani@spring-ford.net.
