REACH: Self-Defense Class

Join us for an empowering and informative evening designed to help you feel stronger, more confident, and more prepared in everyday situations. As part of our REACH programming, this hands-on Self-Defense Class will provide practical tools and real-world strategies to help individuals build awareness, confidence, and personal safety skills.

This session will be led by Diego Civello, a retired law enforcement officer with nearly three decades of dedicated service protecting his community. A graduate of Temple University, Diego spent close to 30 years in law enforcement, including time as a training officer where he discovered his passion for teaching practical skills that help people stay prepared and confident in real-world situations.

In addition to his distinguished career in public safety, Diego is also a former professional bodybuilder and the 1988 World Champion, bringing a unique combination of physical training expertise, discipline, and mental resilience to his instruction. Since retiring in 2019, he has dedicated his time to educating civilians on personal safety, defensive awareness, and responsible firearms practices. Diego currently teaches at Target World and the Boulder Valley Sportsmen Association, where he leads courses in firearms safety, defensive training, concealed carry techniques, pepper spray defense, and women’s self-defense.

During this workshop, participants will learn practical techniques focused on situational awareness, personal safety strategies, and simple defensive movements that can be applied regardless of experience level. Diego’s approachable teaching style ensures that attendees walk away feeling more capable and confident.

The class will take place at The Unfinished Athletics, giving attendees the chance to experience a great local business while learning valuable skills. Our chef will also provide food during the workshop so you can enjoy light fare while connecting with fellow attendees.
