No one could have predicted how the pandemic would roil the markets throughout the year. Stocks plunged in March and April from record February highs as global economies seized up following the economic restrictions and lockdowns put in place to control the spread of the coronavirus. Indicating just how difficult it is to predict the markets, stocks closed the year well above the pre-pandemic expectations of big Wall Street market analysts.
