The General Carl Spaatz National USAAF Museum- “The Forgotten War” Exhibit

This Veteran’s Day, November 11, The General Carl Spaatz National USAAF Museum will highlight the Korean War, and the lasting imprint the outcome left on the current world order.


 
Korea, The Realization of Victory in “The Forgotten War”
 
The General Spaatz Museum opens new exhibit space in time for Veterans Day this November. From November 5^th through November 13^th the Museum in Boyertown will display the weapons and equipment used by our troops during that war. Visitors will learn that America’s participation reversed a sure defeat and insured a permanent democratic example of a free economy in east Asia.

We invite you to interview Colonel Seiwell, USMC Ret. about the war and its relevance to Americas position in the world order since. And the effect that victory has on today’s threats and conflicts. 
 
Today’s conventional wisdom describes the Korean War as a “Incomplete Victory” at best; Americas first loss at worst.
This is a false narrative; the United States led the United Nations forces and defeated the Communist forces of N Korea, China and Russia in their ambition to subjugate the Korean peninsula into their communist orbit, strategically threaten Japan into submission and ultimately control the Pacific rim. Considering the objectives of the “belligerents”, the end can only be a  victory for  America and the United Nations Command, 90% of which were American troops and commanders.
During a deadly 3 three years of fighting over mountainous terrain, enduring brutal cold, suffering hardships and see-saw battles, the forces of Communism was stopped and permanently thrown back above the 38^th parallel.
The North Koreans and Chinese suffered horrendous casualties; the Soviet Union’s support of the Chinese and North Korean forces was indecisive. Today, the presence of American power and resolve on the Korean peninsula is the only deterrent to communist designs in southeast Asia.
The South Korean economy is one of the strongest and most productive in the world. The people of South Korea enjoy a lifestyle of opportunity, progress and freedom. None of which is shared by the people of N. Korea.
In short, the Korean War was a victory for the US, South Korea and the West, a stunning defeat of the Communists.  Imagine our world if China via it’s proxy were in control of the entire Korea.
It’s time to tell the story of “The Forgotten War” and shed light on its Victory. This story needs to be told, before the generation that fought the war disappears from memory.
