Part-time Challenger Learning Center Facilitator
Reports to: Program Manager, Challenger Learning Center at Montco Pottstown
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
This position will be open until filled.  Review of applications will be after January 15, 2023.
*Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and some holidays, as needed.
**PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprints will need to be completed prior to start date.
Basic Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Program Manager for the Challenger Learning Center at Montco Pottstown, the  Part-time Challenger Learning Center Facilitator is responsible for the facilitative assistance of the daily Challenger Learning Center in-person and virtual mission programming, as well as the use of campus educational resources in support of STEM extension programming.

  • Assist the Program Manager & Program Coordinator in providing daily facilitative assistance with Challenger Center simulation-based missions, both in-person and virtual for students in grades 5-8. Responsible for guiding students through missions.  Available throughout the mission to answer questions and provide assistance to students when needed.
  • Assist the Program Manager & Program Coordinator in facilitating STEM-Extension Activities in addition to/collaboration with Challenger Learning Center in-person missions with students in grades 5-8. Responsible for guiding students through extension activities.  Available throughout the activities to answer questions and provide assistance to students when needed.
  • Conduct program-related student and community workshops at events in the community as well as at the Challenger Learning Center (occasionally during evenings/weekends).
    • Responsible for facilitating open house events at the Challenger Learning Center, including tours of the center and leading simulation-based missions.  
    • Attend community outreach events, fairs, and expos to represent the Challenger Learning Center and MCCC, provide information on the program, answer questions, and promote the center.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all technology used in Challenger Learning Center and STEM extension programming including new extension activities, new missions, updates to existing missions as well as any software updates.  Participate in training activities that improve effectiveness, knowledge, and skills related to Challenger Learning Center programming as well as STEM education.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal guidelines to provide for safe physical and online learning environments.
  • Provide Challenger Center administrative assistance where and when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  Education/Training/Work Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in classroom and/or informal educational settings using computer-assisted instruction.
  • Desire to work with children of all ages, as well as adults.
  • Passionate about higher education, particularly in STEM.
  • Experience with STEM programming for youth.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be outgoing and enthusiastic.
  • Amenable to flexible weekly schedule; ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Communicate effectively with children and adults.
