JOB TITLE: Youth Empowerment Program Educator (Boys and Young Men)

COMPENSATION: $18.00/hr

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly

HOURS: Full Time (F/T)

LOCATION: Pottstown, PA

SUPERVISOR: Youth Empowerment Manager

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • AA or BA in related field and/or relevant work experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel from site to site daily
  • Willingness to travel for occasional trips to attend conferences, seminars, and meetings
  • Ability to work with youth identifying as male of various ages in classroom and community settings
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, families, and members of the community
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule that requires managing work hours both in the office and in the field
  • Understanding of diverse family dynamics and cultural differences with the ability to work with and empower participants
  • Participate in indoor and outdoor activities with ease and pleasure
  • Willingness to work required non-traditional hours based on operational needs
  • Understanding of YWCA mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team

Job Responsibilities:

The Youth Empowerment Program Educator will implement programs, primarily to youth identifying as male, in community and school settings and in accordance with the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) acquired by YW3CA through the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The essential duties include but are not limited to:

  • Will support and deliver social/emotional learning programs for boys designed to increase engagement with peers, adults, and community, and to reduce violence in the boys’ everyday lives by building skills in relationship building, conflict resolution, and self-management
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate with fidelity the required program elements of the JAG Grant, mentoring and guiding youth identifying as male at YW3CA locations and several local school districts
  • Ensure the safety of all participants and staff during programing periods
  • Ensure compliance with mandated ratios
  • Regularly maintain communication with program participants, families and sites to cultivate and maintain positive experiences and relationships
  • Maintain effective and accurate documentation as it relates to reporting requirements, lesson plans, attendance, data, and schedules
  • Work closely with Youth Empowerment Program Leadership to develop an annual programming calendar
  • Maintain confidentiality in all children and family records
  • Attend and participates in all in-service training as identified by Youth Empowerment Program Leadership to increase competency in job performance
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations
