QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Assistant certification from accredited school and/or formal training program required
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Computer experience required, EMR preferred, NextGen preferred
- CPR certification required
- Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required within 3 months of hire date
- One to two years physician office experience preferred
- COVID 19 Vaccination required (CHDC may approve religious/medical exemptions)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in morning team huddles
- Participate in pre-visit planning activities
- Prepare exam rooms and patient for examination, treatment/procedures and assist provider
- Perform patient care procedures keeping in mind the age specific needs of the patient
- Prepare and administer medications and immunizations, under physician supervision
- Document data collected during the patient care process via electronic or paper medical record
- Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing and completes appropriate paperwork or electronic documentation necessary
- Order diagnostic studies per physician request and follow up with patient's results via proper protocol or standing order
- Keep inventory and process sample medications, prescriptions and refills, as directed by the physician
- Maintain the dignity and confidentiality of the patient
- Documentation accurately reflects the patient care given
- Maintain patient registries as needed
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations
- Coordinate patient flow
- Act as a clinical preceptor
- Perform tasks as delegated by Provider in a timely manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
