QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Assistant certification from accredited school and/or formal training program required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Computer experience required, EMR preferred, NextGen preferred
  • CPR certification required
  • Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required within 3 months of hire date
  • One to two years physician office experience preferred
  • COVID 19 Vaccination required (CHDC may approve religious/medical exemptions)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in morning team huddles
  • Participate in pre-visit planning activities
  • Prepare exam rooms and patient for examination, treatment/procedures and assist provider
  • Perform patient care procedures keeping in mind the age specific needs of the patient 
  • Prepare and administer medications and immunizations, under physician supervision 
  • Document data collected during the patient care process via electronic or paper medical record 
  • Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing and completes appropriate paperwork or electronic documentation necessary 
  • Order diagnostic studies per physician request and follow up with patient's results via proper protocol or standing order
  • Keep inventory and process sample medications, prescriptions and refills, as directed by the physician 
  • Maintain the dignity and confidentiality of the patient 
  • Documentation accurately reflects the patient care given 
  • Maintain patient registries as needed
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations 
  • Coordinate patient flow 
  • Act as a clinical preceptor
  • Perform tasks as delegated by Provider in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned
