Overview
The role of our Service Technician is to apply mechanical and related knowledge to install, test, repair, replace and/or modify equipment and machinery in the industrial plant or on-site consistent with established procedure and in accordance with local, state, and national codes.
Essential Duties
- Read mechanical schematics and perform basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Read mechanical and machinist blueprints, and precision measuring instruments, then document findings on appropriate paperwork.
- Perform mechanical and welding type duties on an as needed basis and meet all requirements such as welding specs, rigging, assembling cranes.
- Troubleshoot all sizes and types or cranes and mechanically determine problems and take corrective action.
- Work independently with little or no supervision.
- Provide Service Manager with accurate and complete information on mechanical machinery in order to install/replace/order replacement parts.
- Operate machinery in shop and the field as needed such as saw, fork truck, cherry picker, high lift, torch welder, transit, laser beam.
- Work in extreme conditions such as height, dirt, noise, vibration, nuclear environment, temperature.
- Travel away from home on an as needed basis for extended periods of time.
- Complete documentation with relevant information required to generate reports to be forwarded to the engineering or production departments, or to the customer. Use of digital camera and docking station required.
- Keep department and work areas clean, safe, and organized.
- Perform all assignments according to established procedures, guidelines and with recognized electrical codes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of accredited apprenticeship or vocational program or 3-4 years on-the-job training
Experience
- Trade school background a plus
- Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance background
- Knowledge of industrial production machinery to include layout, placement, installation, startup, turnover
- Knowledge of OSHA 1910.179; ANSI/ASME B30.2A; NEC regulations; CMAA regulations required
- Valid Driver’s license and DOT Certification required
- Ability to complete required nuclear site access
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction, installation and repair of buildings, cranes, and other machinery
- Basic knowledge of machinery and tools including their design, uses, repairs and maintenance
- Ability to safely operate mobile man-lift equipment
- Ability to work with supervision using established guidelines, procedures and in accordance with required electrical code

Pay: $34,540.05 - $80,942.92 per year
