The Direct Support Professional role isn't for everybody but it is for those who enjoy a challenge and the reward that comes with it. Being in this role requires both attention to detail and creativity because you are serving as both a life coach and personal support agent.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Serve as both a caregiver and life coach creating opportunities and promoting individuality and independence
• May participate with assistance in meal planning, personal care, daily living activities, coaching and teaching/developing skills.
• Advocate for the individual by assisting in communication and self-expression and be creative in supporting the individual in meeting his/her own goals.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience in supporting individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities, preferred
• Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record, required
• Clear criminal record, background checks and drug test in accordance with state requirements, required
• Ability to convey, understand and follow spoken and written instructions in English, required
• Strong Communication skills, required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, required
