Donations Sought for Revolutionary War Memorial
POTTSTOWN PA. - The Mahanatawny Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, in Pottstown since 1939, is seeking donations from the public for a Monument to honor the
Patriots who served in the Revolutionary War.
The Veteran’s Island at Memorial Park in Pottstown, PA does not have a memorial to honor those who fought for our Independence over 250 years ago. The concept drawing was recently approved by the Borough of Pottstown. The Mahanatawny Chapter of DAR needs to raise $30,000 by November 30, 2025. The memorial is scheduled to be dedicated on July 4, 2026, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a women’s service organization
whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American
independence during the Revolutionary War. Today’s DAR is dynamic and diverse, with over 185,000
members in 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad. DAR members annually provide millions of

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.
