''Little Shop of Horrors'' and more at Steel River Playhouse!

POTTSTOWN, PA – Murderous plants! Floods! Fundraisers! It has been an exciting month at Steel River Playhouse (245 E. High Street in Pottstown), but the fun is just beginning. Our season opens on October 7th with Little Shop of Horrors directed by John D. DiFerdinando. The opening will be preceded by a donor dinner at the Blue Elephant with special opportunities to help support our mission to strengthen community, educate, and entertain diverse audiences.
Although the theater suffered a flood last week the show will go on! Little Shop of Horrors runs October 7th through October 24th. It is a deviously delicious sci-fi smash musical, telling the story of the meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn who stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises Krelborn unending fame and fortune as long as he keeps feeding it blood. This production is sponsored by the Zarley Charitable Foundation, and during the run we’ll hold a “Feed Me Food Drive”. Bring your nonperishable items to our lobby and they’ll be donated to Mission First, helping fight food insecurity in our community. The opening night performance is dedicated to playwright Howard Ashman.
According to Artistic Director Leena Devlin, “We are so excited to open our first full season since before the pandemic with the super fun and crazy Little Shop of Horrors! After the significant flood last week, many organizations would have had to take a step back and reschedule the opening, but not us! We aren’t going to let a little thing like a river in our basement stop us from coming together and figuring it out. After all, River is our middle name. Come celebrate with us!”
This year Steel River Playhouse is offering our patrons the opportunity to make a donation sponsoring anything from one performance to a full production to the entire season of shows.  With special incentives for donations from $250 to $20,000 you won’t want to miss this chance to help tell the stories that bring our community together. From providing educational opportunities to producing the shows we all enjoy, we’ll be happy to discuss how you can help make a difference. Donations are more critical than ever to help us recover from the flood in the basement. You can donate directly at our website, or call us at 610-970-1199 or email to see how you can help.
