TOMPKINS COMMUNITY BANK APPOINTS LENIN AGUDO TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS 
 
WYOMISSING, PA (November 9, 2022) — Tompkins Community Bank (Tompkins) has appointed Lenin Agudo, director of Widener University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC), to its Pennsylvania board of directors. Agudo brings more than fifteen years of economic development experience to the board as well as a dedication to revitalizing communities through public policy and economic growth. His expertise will ensure that Tompkins continues to innovate economic development initiatives across its PA footprint which includes 18 branches serving the Berks, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia and Schuylkill Counties of Pennsylvania.

As director of Widener’s SBDC, Agudo leads three major economic development programs in eastern Pennsylvania: the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAC), the Small Business Environmental Management Assistance Program (EMAP), and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) program. Over the course of his leadership, he has increased the business center’s budget by 725% and led the successful launch of two centers of excellence, the Latino Center and Health and Life Sciences Center. He oversees a $1.7 M budget comprised of several federal and state grants and is responsible for business consulting, fiscal management, budgeting, levering funds, grant writing, program delivery and operational excellence.  
Prior to his role at Widener University, Agudo served the city of Reading as its director of community and economic development. He began his career as a senior consultant for various national and international organizations, including the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic.  
 
Agudo holds an MBA from Kutztown University, a postgraduate certification in economic growth and development from the University of Pennsylvania and a certification in optimizing organizational performance from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Executive Education. He currently serves as a board trustee for the Wyomissing Foundation and board director for Community First Fund (CDFI).
