Position Title: Development Assistant
Reports To: Executive Director
Hours: Part-time (20 hours per week)
Location: Pottstown, PA



Position Summary
In conjunction with the Executive Director, the Development Assistant is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing a comprehensive fundraising program to support the mission of the Foundation for Pottstown Education, which provides resources and opportunities to enhance public education in the Pottstown School District. This position focuses on donor management, donor stewardship, email solicitation creation, and two special events per year.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations

  • Assist the Executive Director in the development and execution of the annual fundraising plan, including annual appeals, major gifts, sponsorships, and special events.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with individuals, businesses, alumni, and community organizations.
  • Manage donor communications, acknowledgments, and reporting to ensure excellent donor stewardship.
  • Maintain accurate donor records in the Foundation’s database, DonorPerfect.
Events & Campaigns
  • In coordination with the Special Events Committee, plan and oversee two fundraising events, including sponsorship recruitment, logistics, and follow-up.
  • Lead the marketing for the annual giving campaigns, including direct mail, online giving, and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts.
Marketing & Communications
  • Work with the Marketing Committee to develop marketing materials, newsletters, social media content, and press releases to promote the Foundation’s mission and impact adhering to the Foundation’s Branding guidelines.
  • Represent the Foundation at community events, school district functions, and donor meetings.
Board & Volunteer Engagement
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors on fundraising initiatives and provide regular progress reports.
  • Support and engage volunteers in fundraising activities and events.
  • Attend the monthly Special Events and Marketing Committee meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience, preferably in education.
  • Proven track record in donor cultivation and event planning.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in donor database systems preferably DonorPerfect, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to the mission of public education and the Foundation’s goals.
