30 North Hanover, former Mercury Building Sells with Development Plan

Pottstown Area Economic Development

POTTSTOWN, PA February 16, 2025 – The development of 30 North Hanover Street, the former Mercury building, built in 1920, has sold to a developer dedicated to revitalizing properties in growing neighborhoods within commutable distances to a major metropolitan city. Reimagined projects such as this one are crucial to the overall success of Pottstown’s Downtown District. The property is adjacent to the Downtown, creating a desirable walkable experience for its residents in 25 one-bedroom market rate apartments.

Pottstown Area Economic Development (PAED) is confident in Dwight City Group’s experience and ability to execute a successful project that will turn a long vacant building into a productive vibrant property. Adaptive reuse projects like this are a vital component of Pottstown’s economic eco-system. In addition to the current residents within the 5.5 sq. miles, and visitors from outside Pottstown, there is a need to increase a hyper-local customer base within the Borough. Without this hyper-local customer base, there is almost no chance of long-term viability for businesses, and occupancies in commercial spaces will remain unstable.

Dwight City Group CEO Judah L. Angster, Esq. shares, “We are really excited for the possibilities with this project. At Dwight City Group we take pride in our partnerships with the communities we serve. We appreciate the knowledge and support we received from PAED in Pottstown. Our goal is to provide a new opportunity and reimagine the next phase of life for an underutilized building. The Mercury’s iconic look and rich history of serving Pottstown makes our goal to preserve it even more vital. We look forward to improving the Mercury’s use and restoring it to the standard it deserves.”

PAED is committed to opportunities that will have substantial positive economic impact for the Borough.
PAED works closely with the development community to return vacant properties into productive use, consistent with local plans and priorities. PAED helps investors and developers by navigating the complications in building codes and zoning, writing letters of support, and filling out Borough paperwork. PAED is the connector that helps overcome these challenges, discovering solutions through connections.
