All Aboard the Colebrookdale Railroad: Announcing our Fall Excursions

BOYERTOWN, PA. - The Colebrookdale Railroad’s award-winning fall themed excursions begin this weekend. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, USA Today, and Country Living Magazine, the Railroad’s train cars are considered among the most beautiful in the world. They traverse a 150-year-old track through the oldest iron making corridor in the United States. “The track winds through a valley largely hidden in the deep woods along the Manatawny and Ironstone Creeks, which become ablaze of color from mid-September through early November,” says railroad General Manager, Josh Alderfer. “There’s no other way to see it, except for the train,” he said.

Excursions include a variety of train rides serving lunch, brunch or dinner, Cider and Donuts Express, and Fall Foliage viewing tours as well as special events including Wine or Hard Cider tastings, a Sensory Friendly train and a Murder Mystery Adventure. A selection of locally produced fall themed foods and beverages are available for purchase and are served on board by white jacketed Pullman attendants, just as would have been done 100 years ago. The Beaver car, which was built in 1928 by the Pullman Company, will also be returning to service this fall.

In addition to historic train rides, the Colebrookdale Creamery and wine bar, housed in a 1914 Baltimore and Ohio railroad baggage car, serves homemade ice cream from Longacre’s Modern Dairy and locally made wine from Ridgewood Winery. The railroad also hosts live music every Saturday right in the railyard located at 64 South Washington St. in Boyertown.
