Soaring Success: IM ABLE Games Attracts Hundreds for Inclusive Fundraiser

Reading, PA – On Saturday, September 21, the IM ABLE Games: Races and Reps on the Runway brought together 203 enthusiastic participants, including 29 athletes living with physical, cognitive and/or behavioral challenges, and 40 volunteers. This year’s innovative format marked a thrilling new chapter for the annual fundraiser benefiting the IM ABLE Foundation, held at the picturesque Reading Regional Airport.

Against the stunning backdrop of vintage planes at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, attendees enjoyed a day filled with fun, fitness, and family-friendly festivities. The IM ABLE Games featured an array of activities designed to be adaptable for people living with disabilities, ensuring that everyone could participate.

Highlights included a 2-Mile Fun Run, Walk, & Roll, which welcomed participants of all abilities, a challenging Sprint Duathlon comprising a 2-mile run, an 8-mile bike ride, and another 2-mile run, and the “Kaaginator Challenge,” a series of functional workout stations inspired by IM ABLE Founder and US Marine veteran, Chris Kaag.

The event also featured the crowd-pleasing Klingers Wingers Wing Eating Competition, sponsored by Klingers at the Airport, which also offered delicious food throughout the day. Guests enjoyed craft beers from Mad Chef Craft Brewing of East Petersburg while being entertained by the dynamic Sir Hamilton Newton, who emceed and DJ’d the event.

“We are thrilled with the turnout and the spirit of inclusivity that permeated this year’s IM ABLE Games,” said Alex A. Pilkington, CEO of the IM ABLE Foundation. “Our mission is to inspire and empower individuals of all abilities to engage in fitness and recreation, and this event
exemplifies that goal. We couldn’t have done it without the dedication of our athletes, volunteers, and sponsors.”

The IM ABLE Games successfully combined fitness, community, and fun, creating a memorable experience for all involved. With its unique setting and diverse activities, this year’s event was not only a celebration of fitness but also a reaffirmation of the IM ABLE Foundation’s commitment to fostering an inclusive community for all.
